Abstract:

BACKGROUNDS: Optimization of microbial compositions and load in live food during the process of bioencapsulation is one of the most important concerns in aquaculture, as it can promote the growth and feeding parameters of fish larvae. OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to determine the growth and feeding performance of Persian sturgeon larvae fed with bioencapsulated D. magna with Saccharomyces cerevisiae. METHODS: D. magna were bioencapsulated with S. cerevisiae at three concentrations of 5, 5.30 and 5.48 Log CFU ml-1 for 10 hours. P. sturgeon larvae were fed using enriched D. magna at 30 percent of their body weight, six times a day. Controlled treatment was fed on unbioencapsulated D. magna. RESULTS: The results indicated that the S. cerevisiae promoted the growth and feeding parameters in P. sturgeon larvae. The final body weight and specific growth rate (SGR) in experimental treatments had significant difference in comparison with control treatment (p

Effects of Daphnia magna and Artemia nauplii on growth performance in Persian sturgeon Acipenser persicus larvae

This study was carried out in a completely randomized design 3×3×4 factorial arrangement in three periods of rearing in spring 1997. Density of 300 larvae was assigned for each oval tank with 0.1m2 surface area, 30cm deep, a volume of 20lit and 0.25 lit/min of water flow per minute at Shahid Rajaie fish breeding and culture center in Sari, north of Iran. The fries were divided into ...

the effect of yeast-enriched (saccharomyces cerevisiae) daphnia magna on growth and stress resistance in persian sturgeon (acipenser persicus) larvae

this study was carried out to evaluate the effect of commercial live bakery’s’ yeast( saccharomyces cerevisiae ), (marketed as amax), on growth and survival of persian sturgeon( acipenser persicus) larvae (74.9 ± 9.7mg) during 30 days. sturgeon larvae were fed on daphnia magna enriched at three suspensions of yeast, amax, (0, 50, 100, and 150 mg yeast per litter). the feeding level was 30 perce...

Effects of n3-HUFA enriched Daphnia magna on growth, survival, stress resistance, and fatty acid composition of larvae of Persian sturgeon (Acipenser persicus)

Effects of Daphnia magna enriched with cod liver oil (CLO) as a source of highly unsaturated fatty acid (HUFA) on growth, survival, stress resistance, and fatty acid composition of the Persian sturgeon larvae were evaluated. Daphnia enriched for three different time periods (3, 6, and 9 hours) and non-enriched Daphnia were fed to the Persian sturgeon larvae (average weight 61.6±0.4mg) during 14...
